“Black Art: In the Absence of Light”
Filmmaker Sam Pollard turns his cameras on some of the most striking Black visual artists working today in this new feature-length documentary. Built around a groundbreaking 1976 exhibition called “Two Centuries of Black American Art,” which featured more than 200 works by 63 artists, the film shines a spotlight on dazzling works by Theaster Gates, Kerry James Marshall, Faith Ringgold and Amy Sherald.
