Group working to set up MHC scholarship in Evelyn Stall’s name

-

There is a proposal to establish the Evelyn Stall Volunteer Leadership Scholarship, and the committee is seeking contributions from the public.

Evelyn Stall, who passed away in December at the age of 101, was someone who dedicated her life to volunteering. She spent countless hours working with the Medicine Hat Hospital Auxiliary. She helped set up the Volunteer Centre and was named honorary volunteer chair in the City of Medicine Hat.

Many people benefited from Stall’s leadership and the galas she organized to recognize the value of volunteers.

As a legacy of her work and with a goal of having young people at Medicine Hat

College think seriously about their future efforts as volunteers, a committee whose members include Colleen Wilson, Mike Hertz, Heather Lemushuk and Jennifer Kerslake (MHC), are working to set up a scholarship at the college in Stall’s name.

The committee is looking for contributions to reach a goal of about $50,000. The annual interest would make it possible to provide a scholarship of $1,000 or $1,200.

Applicants would need to be graduates of one of the three local school districts, Medicine Hat Public School Division, Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education and the Prairie Rose School

Division.

The committee is asking the public to consider a contribution of $100 or even $1,000 toward the scholarship fund.

If you would like additional information or would like to make a contribution, contact Jennifer Kerslake, director community engagement at MHC: 403-529-3897 or email: jkerslake@mhc.ab.ca
