SAHA U17 men take two of three over weekend

The South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U17 men’s team ended their weekend on a high note.

The U17 men won two of their three home games this weekend against the Edge

Gold at the Big Marble Go Centre.

They lost their first game of the weekend, a 7-0 shutout defeat Friday. Mattias Radke made 26 saves in the loss.

SAHA bounced back with a 4-2 win Saturday, led by a 62-save performanc­e from Steven Wawryk. Garrison Peck and Eastyn Dimond each had a goal and an assist in the win and both Ty Wasyluk and Nate Grinevitch had solo markers.

Sunday’s win, a 4-3 victory in overtime, came off the stick of Kingston Chisholm who completed a hat trick with the game winner, also notching an assist.

Peck rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist and Radke made 40 saves.

SAHA’s U17 men’s team (1614-1-1) wrapped up their regular season with the two wins.

The U18 men’s team swept their two-game road slate. They opened the weekend with an 11-2 victory over Pilot Mound academy. All three of Owen Brees, Brayden RyanMacKay and Will

Bell had two goals and an assist in the win. Ty Hynes scored twice and both Koen Gauthier and

Drew Williamson had a goal and an assist.

Wyatt Yule had a solo marker, Josiah Jackson had four helpers and both Nate Yellowaga and Hudson Gainer had three assists. Ben Pohill made 25 saves in the win.

SAHA wrapped up the weekend with a 4-3 win Sunday over RINK Winnipeg. Jackson tallied two goals and two assists, Landon Marleau notched a goal and an assist and Ryan-MacKay tickled twine with a solo marker. Marek Schlenker made 33 saves for the victory.

SAHA’s U18 men’s team (169-1) have one home game this week, hosting RINK Winnipeg for a 9:30 a.m. contest at the Big Marble Go Centre on Friday.
