Nomadic Naturalist Series kicks off with bio-facts pop-up

Program is getting ready to host a series of pop-up events to provide residents hands-on learning experiences focused on the city’s local biology called the ‘Nomadic Naturalists Series.’
The first of the series will be held April 5 near the river lookout west of the Nature Centre and will have a pop-up table set up with a variety of different animal skulls, bones, furs and wood that you might come across while exploring the outdoors.
“The kinds of things that you don’t always get to see up close,” explains Hannah White, park interpreter. “We’ll have them out on the table that people can come and touch things if they want to look at, like, different bird feathers.
“So it’ll be local animals and local artifacts and we’ll have information about what the different things are.”
White explains the pop-up tables will be similar to the Grasslands Naturalists booth at the Stampede last year.
“It’ll be similar to what we did there where we had lots of different things out on the table for people to interact with,” says White.
This will be the first in a series of pop-up events the Grasslands Naturalists are planning to host throughout the spring and summer.
White says they will be posting additional information on other upcoming pop-up events on their website, natureline.info, and their Facebook account.
“If it’s a nice day, we might just go somewhere and then posting on social media saying, ‘Hey, we’re here today, if anyone wants to stop by,’” says White.
There is no registration required and the event is free to the public. The pop-up tent display will run from 1-3 p.m. April 5.
