SALTA Gymnastics Club competes at provincial championsh­ips

Medicine Hat’s SALTA Gymnastics Club was in action last weekend against Alberta’s best.

The local club sent eight athletes to compete against the 318 other gymnasts from 33 Alberta clubs showcasing their skills at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics provincial championsh­ips in Calgary.

Chelsia Cooper, who competed as a CCP Level 8 athlete, earned a silver medal in the

Floor routine. She wrapped up the competitio­n winning eighth place All Around for her respective age category and was also awarded seventh place in Vault, ninth place on Beam and 12th place in the Uneven Bars exercise.

Camryn Kingsley, competing as a CCP Level 6 athlete, earned a bronze medal in the Uneven Bars exercise.

Kingsley finished fifth place All Around for her respective age category and was also awarded fourth place in the Floor routine, sixth place in Vault and eighth place in the Beam exercise.

SALTA’s six other athletes didn’t make podium but recorded personal bests.

Adriana Mealey secured 11th All Around, with a ninth on Vault, 10th on Beam, 11th on Uneven Bars and 12th on Floor.

Kenzie Christense­n finished 12th All Around, taking ninth on Uneven Bars, 11th on Vault, 12th on Beam and 14th on Floor.

Alexis Hayward ranked

13th All Around, finishing sixth on Beam, 11th on both Vault and Uneven Bars and 13th on Floor.

Kapri Wirth was 14th All Around, after finishing 11th on Floor, 13th on both Vault and Uneven Bars and 14th on Beam.

Skylar Berner rounded out the competitio­n, earning 15th All Around with a 12th on

Bars and Floor and 15th on Beam and Vault.
