Cypress County’s business luncheon becoming a networking must
Friday saw Cypress County businesses, residents and representatives at the county office for the third annual Connections Luncheon.
“The Cypress County Connections Luncheon is just a new one-hour event that’s for Cypress County and region, businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs to come in network,” said Beth Cash, economic development officer with Cypress County.
Attendees were given an opportunity to meet and exchange engaging conversation, as well as treat themselves to a lunch provided by a local business. Overall, the event is markedly similar to its predecessors, as Cash finds that they struck the perfect formula for the day early on.
“It seems to sell out quicker and quicker every year, which is a really great thing , and we get lots of great feedback,” said Cash. “We’re fortunate to have a ton of people that are returning, but also new people each time. So we’re appreciative of that.”
Cash is thankful that businesses are receptive and take the time out of their days to come to the event, because “the whole purpose of the day is to offer them the opportunity to connect and, ultimately, just to support the businesses we have in the county.”
The event saw roughly 50 attendees, at the capacity of what the Cypress County Council Room can house, from both a good mix of county residents and those from outside the county who had purchased tickets for the opportunity to get to better know their neighbours.
“It’s gone really well, people seem to like the quick networking activity and the opportunity to talk freely as well. We work hard to create an environment that’s not stressful, so then people can talk to each other and network on their own,” said Cash.
There are plans in the works to host another luncheon during small business week later on in the year, among other networking opportunities. Cash made mention of the newsletter she curates for county businesses, and encourages those looking to make connections within that community to sign up for news on similar events in the future.
