They call it Aldo Rise for several reasons, we think. The collaboration line by Montreal shoe giant Aldo with its pick of international rising designers has landed in shops, and the spring offerings have some mighty high heels. Pictured here, the Cregger from Faster by Mark Fast ($155). Fast is a Winnipeg designer known for his edgy, skin-baring knits, shown in London and worn by the likes of Tilda Swinton and Rihanna. Other Rise collaborators for spring include JW Anderson, Christian Cota, Cushnie et Ochs, Libertine and Preen.
Meanwhile, expect even greater heights in heels when Truth or Dare by Madonna, licensed to Aldo, launches in August. The line is targeted to women aged 27 to 50 “who have a timeless style and an innate sex appeal,’’ according to the press release. Costume designer Arianne Phillips is creative consultant for the brand, which will be sold in Canada at The Bay, Little Burgundy and Capezio. Price range is $99 to $349.
