The one-hour show looks at some of the Stampede’s most popular features, including the parade, rodeo and the races. It also covers the aboriginal history of the Stampede and takes a nostalgic look at Guy Weadick, and how the first Stampede came to be.

Classes resume for a 12th season of the award-winning Canadian high school drama series, which sees the arrival of players from a junior hockey team at the school. In the season premiere, Drew ( Luke Bilyk) loses his courage to break up with Katie ( Chloe Rose) in favour of Bianca ( Alicia Josipovic), and Clare ( Aislinn Paul) worries that Eli ( Munro Chambers) doesn’t reciprocat­e her affections. Newcomer Sarah Fisher joins the cast as an American transfer student.

Military historian Dan Snow unearths new insights into how Canada and Britain made formidable allies during the Second World War in this new four-part documentar­y series. In the first episode, Dan and his team discover the almost perfectly preserved wreckage of a downed Spitfire in a Northern Ireland peat bog. A second episode follows immediatel­y.

3 Needles Though it’s not an easy film to watch, this 2005 drama from Canadian filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald is a very important one. Telling three remarkable stories about AIDS, the film stars Chloe Sevigny, Sandra Oh and Olympia Dukakis as Cana- dian nuns in Africa, trying to combat local superstiti­ons that lead to the disease’s spread. Another segment stars Lucy Liu as a blood collector in rural China, while the third deals with an HIVpositiv­e adult film star and his mother.

I Didn’t Do It The new episode Clarence Elkins - Smoking Gun chronicles how a Barberton, Ohio, man is sentenced to 55 years in prison on the basis of testimony by his 6-year-old niece, who tells investigat­ors that “someone who looked like Uncle Clarence” assaulted her and murdered her grandmothe­r, Judy Johnson. Elkins’ only hope lies in trying to prove another inmate in the same facility actually committed the crimes.
