Pardon the interruption
Re: “I have zero patience for people who interrupt” (Gazette, July 16).
I totally agree with Susan Schwartz’s column. What really aggravates me is when you wait your turn to be served at a department store by a clerk and then as he is serving you someone comes up and starts asking him questions to the point that he is no longer helping you. This has happened to me more than once.
Once I had to tell this person, “Hey, the clerk is serving me right now, wait your turn.” At least this person had the common sense to realize what just happened and said, “You’re right. I’m sorry, I did not notice.”
Yes, we are all stressed and in a hurry most of the time but a little patience and courtesy with a smile can go a long way. Pierre Charrier Laval
Susan Schwartz didn’t mention my disability, ADHD. I am a middle-aged woman who is a full-time professional who occasionally has been hindered by my impulsive nature. I have chosen not to take medication and instead work within my limits because ADHD professionals find that the medication can alter personality.
I have attempted to gain more self-control in my workplace because my conduct does annoy my co-workers.
I have known many successful people who have ADHD. Although there are times when I would like to hit a “refresh” button, I do appreciate my strength and personality and if my interrupting causes people to be hurtful or hateful, I apologize.
Sometimes these interruptions are hardly intentional. Suzanne Sendel Dollard des Ormeaux
