Open, closed on Thanksgiving
Many businesses and government services will be closed or operate on different hours on Monday, Thanksgiving Day. Here is a partial list of those affected: All banks will be closed. All federal and provincial government offices, including immigration and unemployment centres, will be closed.
Most city of Montreal departments will be closed. Boroughs that have garbage and recycling collection scheduled for Mondays will be served, however.
The Claude Robillard athletic centre will be closed, but its outdoor tennis courts will be open. For details, call 514872-6900.
Services in other municipalities will be reduced; consult your city hall for details.
Most supermarkets will be open, but operating hours may vary. Certain retail stores will be open. Call to confirm before heading out to shop.
All Société des alcools du Québec stores will be open during regular hours unless the outlet is in a shopping mall that is closed.
Montreal arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries and cultural venues will operate accord- ing to schedules set by the boroughs. For information, contact the venue or confirm schedules in each borough at ville.montreal.qc.ca
Montreal Municipal Court, at 775 Gosford St., will be closed.
The Botanical Garden and Insectarium will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Planetarium is not open. It will reopen in its new facility, the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, in early 2013.
The Biodôme will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bonsecours Market (350 St. Paul St. E.) is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Atwater, Jean Talon and Maisonneuve public markets are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to marchespublics-mtl.com or call 514-9377754.

Société de transport de Montréal buses and métro trains are operating on a holiday schedule. For information, call 514-288-6287, or consult stm.info.
The Agence métropolitaine de transport is operating the Montreal/Vaudreuil-Hudson and Montreal/Deux Montagnes commuter trains on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. There is no service on the Montreal/Blainville-St-Jérôme, Montreal/ Mont-St-Hilaire or Montreal/ Candiac lines Monday. Some ticket booths may be closed. For more information, visit amt.qc.ca.
Laval Transit Corp. buses will run on a Saturday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, as are those of Longueuil’s RTL transit authority.
Parking meters remain in operation; motorists are reminded to respect posted parking restrictions.
There will be no regular collection or delivery of mail. Post offices are closed Monday. Privately owned retail postal outlets are open, according to the operating hours of those businesses.
The Montreal Exchange is closed Monday.
