DelMonaco: Homemade Italian food from ‘Mamma’s boys’

-

For the past six years, DelMonaco pasta shop, takeout and catering has offered Montrealers the very best freshly made pasta, pizza and sauces. Luigi Sabelli, Maurizio Frate and Claudio D’Uva have made the Kirkland shop a success by creating the kinds of homemade Italian foods that they had loved as children.

“We’re Mamma’s boys,” Sabelli said. “This means we revere how much our mothers knew about cooking fabulous food that is healthy, satisfying, and affordable.”

“Our mammas knew what it was to raise families, to handle busy schedules and work within a budget,” Frate added. “We have tapped into their wisdom and love of family to create DelMonaco — a place where Montrealers can find authentic Italian food that pleases the palate, fills the stomach, and warms your heart.”

Thanks to West Island mammas, DelMonaco is six years old and growing strong. And judging by the many testimonials DelMonaco’s has received from its customers, Sabelli and Frate are making their mammas proud in the kitchen. You can find those testimonials on their website (www.delmonaco.ca), but here’s a sampling: • “The pizza is amazing; every time the family gets together, they want this pizza!” writes Alexandria. “The bread, the sauce — awesome. The meatballs are also fantastic! Want a great meal? Come by here!” • “If you think the pizza is amazing, you should taste the lasagna — authentic,” writes Maria. “Many thanks to Maurizio and Luigi, the lasagna was a hit at my son’s party! It was prepared with such care — I can tell from the taste.” Getting hungry? Then why not stop by for pizza, chicken or eggplant Parmesan, meatballs, lasagna or Italian sausage. Quick and affordable, the lunch and takeout menus now include hot sandwiches (DelMonaco Sangweech), individualized thin crust pizza, minestrone soup and house salad. And, of course, DelMonaco offers superb, must-have Sicilian cannoli as the perfect dessert.

Last-minute guests and busy family lives can be handled easily with DelMonaco’s ready-made sauces, lasagnas and handmade pasta. With more than 30 varieties of sauces and 20 varieties of pasta, dinner can be ready in 30 minutes.

Here’s how easy it is: Heat the sauce as the water comes to a boil. Cook the pasta for five minutes. Drain, add the sauce and serve. All-All natural ingredients made according to traditional recipes ensures the highest quality for a delicious meal minus the stress. Buon appetito!

Then there’s catering: DelMonaco specializes in catering large events; many of them for the community groups that the partners actively support. These groups include the Kirkland Figure Skating Club, Lakeshore General Hospital Golf Tournament, Lakeshore General Hospital Fashion Gala, Pierrefonds Ringette, Kirkland Old Timers Hockey, Beaconsfield Old Timers Hockey, and the Breast Cancer Foundation.

“It is not enough for us to offer great homemade Italian food and family-friendly prices,” Sabelli said. “As members of this community, it is vital for DelMonaco to give back. So we supports local organizations — and help make their events more fun by bringing along the best of Italian cuisine — just as Mamma made it!”

Again, the testimonials speak for themselves: • “Everything was wonderful,” writes Janet, after DelMonaco catered a 200-person Pfizer Pharma event. “The food was delicious and we all couldn’t have been happier.” • “A huge, enormous, ridiculously big thank-you for all your work i n helping us put on this week’s event,” writes Asma of LMC Endocrinology Clinics. “The set-up was fantastic and, despite space constraints, we managed to pull off a tasteful evening. An extra thanks for staying behind to clean up and restore order in the clinic. You rock!” Whether for eat-in, takeout, or catered events, DelMonaco is your Montreal location for the best in homemade Italian food. “When we say we make it like Mamma does, we mean it,” Frate said. “After all, our customers are mammas — and they know great food and fair prices when they see them!” Like DelMonaco on Facebook, he added, and be eligible to win monthly prizes.
