VONN SAYS SHE SUFFERED FROM DEPRESSION
NEW YORK — Skiing star Lindsey Vonn has revealed to People magazine that she struggled with depression, and was prescribed an antidepressant to treat the condition. The 28-year-old Vonn says that in 2008, “I couldn’t get out of bed. I felt hopeless, empty, like a zombie. I couldn’t even cry any more.” She describes in the interview how it seemed her life was perfect but “behind the scenes, it was a struggle.” In World Cup competition on Friday, Vonn’s bid for a fifth straight victory in speed events ended with a crash. Lara Gut of Switzerland won the event. Larisa Yurkiw of Owen Sound, Ont., did not finish.
