Johansson didn’t get part, but she’s not misérable

- DOUG CAMILLI CELEBRITY Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor will be played by Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter on BBC. camillimail@gmail.com

Now it can be told: Scarlett Johansson says she auditioned for the role of Fantine in the Les Misérables movie because she has loved the story since high school.

“I sang my little heart out,” she told Broadway.com. But “I auditioned with laryngitis.”

Anne Hathaway won the gig, and ScarJo now graciously says that “looking at the film now, there’s no possible way I ever could have topped that performance.”

So, Adele, your son is four months old now and you still won’t tell the world his name? What’s up with that?

Anyway, the world is pretty sure the lad is called Angelo.

The singer is being mysteriously coy, saying in January that “I am not sharing his name at the moment. It is very personal to me. I am enjoying him on my own.”

Strange, no? But then she was spotted wearing a little gold necklace with the word “Angelo.” And at the BAFTA awards the other night people noticed that she has a script capital letter “A” tattooed behind her left ear.

Jamie Lynn Sigler, of The Sopranos, announced last week that she’s engaged to Cutter Dykstra, a minor-league ballplayer whose dad,

Len, was a pretty good big-leaguer. Now it appears that Cutter is a 12-gauge groom: Jamie Lynn is expecting, says USA Today.

Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West (of The Wire): Can you see them as Liz Taylor and Richard Burton? BBC viewers will, next year; the casting has just been announced, for broadcast 18 months from now. No doubt this production will turn up on our screens, too, eventually.

The script is focused on 1983 when, twice divorced, they appeared together onstage in Noel Coward’s Private Lives, about a couple in roughly the same circumstances.

Can you name a female B-lister who does not have her own clothing line?

I guess there are still a few, but now we can cross Eva Mendes off the list.

She has signed with a retail outfit called New York & Company, says WWD, to design and market Eva by Eva Mendes-brand daywear, evening dresses, and accessories. More marketing news: Jennifer Lopez has a new perfume, Forever Glowing; it’s her 19th fragrance.

Kate Upton, gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue, has also signed to be the face and figure of Accessorize, a retail chain selling … well, you can guess.

She’s in rarefied company: the firm has previously used Bar Rafaeli and the astonishing Claudia Schiffer.

Halle Berry’s relationship with actor Olivier Martinez seems a little shaky, claims Internet gossip Janet Charlton.

Halle spends a lot of time in L.A., since a judge refused to let her take Nahla, her daughter with ex-Montrealer Gabriel Aubry, to live in France.

But Ollie works in France, and hates Tinseltown, where he can’t seem to land many roles. The two have been on different continents more and more lately, Charlton says.

They’ve been dating since 2010 and got engaged last year.

He’s 47. Halle’s 46. Nahla’s almost 5.
