A corrupt contractor would be preferable

Re: “Pothole pilot project begins” (Gazette, April 16)

I laughed out loud when I perused your story on the appearance of a new pothole machine in Montreal. Particularly hilarious was the suggestion by the SudOuest director of public works that making the asphalt on the spot while blue collar workers stand by would be economical. The break out phrase here is “stand by.”

Heaven and hell will unify before blue collars can compete with a contractor. If this keeps up, the city of Montreal will be down the deep well of bankruptcy long before blue collar pensions come due.

I’ll take a corrupt contractor any day. Rick Morris
