Clay-court hopes end for Raonic
MONACO — Milos Raonic’s hopes for early success on the clay court start stalled with a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3) loss to Jarkko Nieminen on Wednesday in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters. Raonic, the 12th seed from Thornhill, Ont., was disappointed with the loss. “It was a tight match,” Raonic said. “I had a lot more opportunities. I didn’t take advantage of them.”
