Residency in Pierrefonds-Roxboro

-

A headline on the front page of Wednesday’s West Island Gazette read: “None of Projet Montréal’s candidates in Pierrefonds-Roxboro live in the borough.” That’s not true. I am running for borough mayor because I believe deeply in improving the community of Pierrefonds–Roxboro, where I was born, grew up and have lived for the bulk of my adult life. In fact, I was previously elected to city council in Pierrefonds in 1989 and served as a councillor for my community for 12 years.

Eric McCarty, our candidate for city council in Cap-St-Jacques district, has lived in Pierrefonds– Roxboro for 26 years.

Lisa Sirignano, running in the same district for borough councillor, has lived in the borough for 22 years.

Sameer Zuberi, our candidate for city council in Bois-de-Liesse district, has lived in Pierrefonds– Roxboro for five years and Nathalie Morin, running there for borough council, has been a resident for 21 years.

While we all have deep ties to our community, the same cannot be said for all of our opponents. At least one of them does, in fact, live outside the borough.

In this election our campaign has raised more money, and knocked on more doors, than any of our opponents.

Thanks to the work of our outstanding army of volunteers, and the dedication of our candidates, we are poised to win.

It would be a tragedy if this mistake led citizens to believe that we are “poteaux” candidates, parachuted from downtown, when nothing could be further from the truth.
