With the Olympics set to begin in less than two months, there were some other encouraging results for Canada:

Quebecers Mikaël Kingsbury, the reigning world champion, and Alex Bilodeau, the 2010 Olympic champion, went 1-2 in a men’s moguls World Cup Saturday in Ruka, Finland, with Justine DufourLapointe earning the silver in the women’s moguls.

Reigning Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries of Calgary drove her bobsled to a World Cup win Saturday in Lake Placid., N.Y.

Canada’s cross-country ski team, struggling to find its form early in the season, failed to qualify anyone for the top-30 heat racing Sunday at a World Cup skate sprint race in Davos, Switzerland.

At a World Cup ski cross event in Val Thorens, France, the normally competitive Canadian men were well off the pace, failing to advance anyone to heat racing. Chris Del Bosco of Montreal was 50th, Dave Duncan of Whistler, B.C., 52nd, Brady Leman of Calgary 55th and Mathieu Leduc of Comox 56th.

On the women’s side, Marielle Thompson of Whistler was eliminated by an arm’s length in a tough semifinal on Sunday, but the 21-year-old won the consolation final to finish fifth and retain her World Cup lead after two events. Georgia Simmerling of West Vancouver was 10th and Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna, B.C. 15th
