Third Trudeau child born
Hadrian joins Xavier and Ella Grace
Justin Trudeau’s son was born just before 10 a.m. on Friday.
The Liberal leader posted to his Twitter account on Friday morning with a photo of young Hadrian gripping his finger. Both mother and child are healthy.
“Welcome to the world, little Hadrian. 8lbs 3oz, Sophie is wonderful, Xavier and Ella-Grace couldn’t be prouder,” said the tweet.
He announced the pregnancy of his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in August with an equally adorable photo. Hadrian is the couple’s third child.
Feb. 28 carries significant Trudeau family history. It was on this day 30 years ago that Trudeau senior took his famous “walk in the snow” and declared he would be leaving federal politics. Now Feb. 28 is also the birthday of the youngest Trudeau.
Forty-one-year-old Trudeau, who took over the reins of the Liberal Party this spring, was married in 2005 to former model and Quebec television host Grégoire. The couple has two children: son Xavier James born Oct. 18, 2007 and daughter Ella Grace, born Feb. 5, 2009.
In a recent interview with The Globe and Mail, Grégoire said she thought her husband could both be a good father and “complete his responsibility as a human being.” She added that her two children “were born to” the hectic life that comes with their father’s political career.
“It’s nor mal for them when they see a huge group of people and everyone’s rushing up — they’re not stressed,” she said.
The newest addition to the Trudeau family will grow up a stone’s throw from 24 Sussex Dr. where Trudeau lived as a child.
