Language nitpickers need to get a life
Re: “Businesses upset over OQLF’s online salvo” (Gazette, Feb. 28)
I took a look at Article 52 of Quebec’s Charter of the French Language. There does not appear to be any reference to language restric- tions with regard to social media such as Facebook.
How can the Office québécois de la langue française have any control over Facebook content? Should it not be concentrating on its ordinary harassment and persecution of small Quebec English businesses? Cracking down on sales staff guilty of greeting clients with a “Bonjour-Hi” salutation?
This matter must be settled by the courts.
And to the small-minded, mean-spirited individual who lodged a complaint against Eva Cooper’s Facebook page: get a life. Cynthia Jarjour
