BIRTHDAY GUY: Director and actor Ron Howard was born in Duncan, Okla., on this date in 1954. This birthday guy was already a TV icon for his roles as Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” and Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days” before moving behind the camera as a director and producer. “A Beautiful Mind” won him a Best Director Oscar in 2001 and he’s also directed such acclaimed films as “Rush,” “The DaVinci Code” and “Apollo 13.”

ARIES (March 21-April 19): If you’re single, a new person might show their true colors. If you’re in a long-term relationship, a simple apology could heal a wound and may even ignite your ardor. Watch out for casual, careless spending.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Talk your way to the top. You’re more knowledgeable than you think. Your romantic ideas may find a willing partner. A casual friendship could move to the next level or develop into a full-blown commitment.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Shoot for the moon when possibilities are limitless. You could meet a helpful individual who lights the way and leads you toward a better future. If you employ creative imagination and picture success, you’re likely to achieve it.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): Under these stars, you’re willing to be at peace with the world and gently accept the facts just as they are. It’s a good time to make crucial decisions because if you’re wrong, the universe will gently nudge you in the right direction.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Knights in white satin ride to the rescue. A bold attitude might force issues out in the open and clear the air. Be forthright and honest for the most success. A lucky break or fortunate turn of events can be used to your advantage.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Your love life might pick up and turn ardent. Forge lasting ties of affection with the heat of passion. A friend could become more than a friend, or a current significant other could become closer than ever before.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You have a tendency to flirt, but you do it within the bounds of propriety so everyone feels good. Let your best side show in order to make progress in your career or on the social scene.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Use feminine wiles or manly appeal to bring someone closer. It’s a good time to be sociable, as you could make an exciting new acquaintance at a public function or party. There’s little to be gained from spending time alone.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Get a rebate by passing up a debate. It’s tempting to stir things up by engaging in discussions about politics, philosophy, or religion, but remain tolerant of conflicting viewpoints.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Business success depends on follow through. Use the extra energy and passion at your fingertips. Put plans in motion, work relentlessly on a pet project, or get back up to speed with your priorities.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Apologies are accepted under these stars, so heal a breach with well- chosen words. Saying what people want to hear is only a good thing if you’re sincere. Matters to do with love and tasteful purchases get a green light.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You can find good things to say about almost anyone and win their loyalty and support. Your judgment and vision are at their best, and you’ll find a helping hand when you need one.

IF MARCH 1 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: Life really is justa bowl full of cherries and you can enjoy them now. For the next 3-4 weeks, your judgment is better than usual, so it is a good time to make key decisions or enter into an agreement, but you might prefer to just relax and enjoy life, too. You can seek professional services and hook up with wise and wonderful people. By the end of the month, your lucky stars begin to fade, so avoid making major changes to your business or finances through mid-June. Late June is a good time for a romantic escape or vacation, and late August through mid-September is perfect for developing and implementing successful financial strategies.
