What does the West Island get for voting Liberal?
Are West Islanders taken for granted by the Liberals? And ignored by all other parties on the provincial level? These are common questions. I have been asked them several times during the past few weeks. The answers are not always easy. The West Island is described as a federalist bastion. This is unlikely to change as long as Quebec separation is an issue. It’s that simple. But should it always come down to a “what-have-you-done-for-me -lately” frame of reference? No. But on the other hand, it would be nice if something could be done – like building a new north-south artery west of StCharles Blvd. In the big scheme of things, it’s not that huge a deal. But what a difference it would make on the morning commute for so many here. Perhaps its time has come. Finally. And I will tell you why. Join me online at westislandgazette.com for more.
