Mercier open in both directions this weekend
No major work is planned on South Shore bridges this weekend, but other traffic and transit problem spots will affect Montrealers. Yellow Line The métro Yellow Line will be completely closed again Saturday and Sunday for tunnel repairs. Société de transport de Montréal shuttle buses will travel between the South Shore and downtown Montreal. Weekend closings continue until May 25. South Shore bridges Mercier Bridge users have nothing to worry about this weekend. For a change, it will be open in both directions Saturday and Sunday. Transport Quebec said Mercier lanes toward the South Shore will be closed again April 1213 and April 19-20.
No major work is planned on the Champlain or JacquesCartier bridges, or the Lafontaine tunnel. Highway 20 The Highway 20 west exit for the Mercier Bridge will be closed from Friday at 11:30 p.m. until Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and from Saturday at 11:30 p.m. until Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Turcot Interchange Two Turcot ramps have been closed since Monday. Both start on Highway 15 north, with one branching off toward the Ville-Marie Expressway (toward downtown) and the other to Highway 20 west (toward Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport). Transport Quebec said the ramps will be closed until June. Sherbrooke St. W. City of Montreal sewer work started on Sherbrooke St. in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce on Wednesday. All eastbound lanes are closed to traffic between Décarie Blvd. and Grey Ave. Only one westbound lane remains open and it will stay this way for about six weeks. Sherbrooke St. E. Work on another stretch of Sherbrooke is also about to start causing traffic pain. This time, it’s in Mercier– Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie. Next week, the city starts sewer repairs between St-Germain St. and Charlemagne Ave. Lanes will be closed, but the city promised at least one lane will remain open in each direction. The work is expected to be completed in fall 2015. Pointe-Claire On the West Island, motorists are being warned of traffic headaches on St-Jean Blvd. at Highway 20. Repairs to an overpass started this week. Expect lane closings for about five months.
