THIS WEEK’S TOP TV TIPS
SUNDAY
Game of Thrones
Despite season three’s wedding to end all weddings and the ongoing violence and torture that surrounds the battle for the Iron Throne, fans are seemingly delirious with joy that the fantasy drama based on
George R.R. Martin’s epic novel is back. Seemingly, though, this season there will be lots of mini-shocks instead of one big shocker. In the premiere, Tyrion ( Peter Dinklage) welcomes a guest, while Jon Snow ( Kit
Harrington) finds no such welcome at Castle Black.
HBO Silicon Valley / Veep Created by Emmy Awardwinner Mike Judge ( King of
the Hill) and inspired by his experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late 1980s, the eight-episode half-hour comedy follows four tech programming whizzes living under the watch of Erlich ( T.S. Miller), a dotcom millionaire who lets them stay in his house for free as long as he gets a 10 per cent stake in their projects. It’s followed by the Season 3 premiere of Julia
Louis-Dreyfus’s sitcom, Veep. After watching the premiere of Game of
Thrones, a little levity should be welcome.

Turn Based on the non-fiction book by Alexander Rose,
Washington’s Spies, this new series centres on farmer Abraham Woodhull ( Jamie
Bell) living with his family in British-occupied Setauket, Long Island. When the American Revolutionary War comes too close to home, Woodhull joins forces with childhood friends, including Anna Strong ( Heather Lind) wife of a patriot leader, to form the nation’s first spy network, the Culper Ring. Using codes, dead drops and aliases, the group collected information about British activities in New York City and relayed it back to General George Washington ( Ian Kahn). AMC
MONDAY
Jacked This new 10-part series follows Jeremy Patterson and his rag-tag team of ex-cons and family members as they travel around the U.S. saving homes that have been decimated by storms and hurricanes — whether it be Katrina, Isaac or Sandy. In New Orleans, Patterson took on many homes people felt were unsalvageable: jacking houses up above the flood line is no mean feat. In the premiere a 160-ton slab house requires some finesse to keep things on the level and a high water table and generous helping of mud make a challenging job even harder.

Call of the Wildman
Ernie ‘Turtleman’ Brown Jr. is back for a third season of protecting Kentucky homes and businesses from new and wilder varmints including coyotes, llamas, venomous snakes, skunks and raccoons. Never traditional but always effective ‘Turtleman’ uses instinct and his bare hands to capture the frisky critters and return them to the wild.

TUESDAY
The Dave Clark Five — Glad All Over Overlooked in all the fuss about the Beatles’ British Invasion, was the success of another Brit band — The
Dave Clark Five. The group
has sold over 100 million records and was responsible for knocking the Beatles’ popular I Want to Hold
Your Hand out of the No. 1 slot in 1964 with their Glad
All Over single. Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, the band was renowned for its feelgood music. The doc will bring back happy memories for many, as well as introduce younger viewers to the freedom and optimism that was synonymous with the group.
PBS Arctic Air Fans of the series starring
Adam Beach as a Yellowknife bush pilot are sure to be watching as many episodes as they can in the face of the cancellation of the popular series. In tonight’s suspenseful season finale, a disaster deals a double whammy to the crew trapping Krista’s ( Pascale
Hutton) search and rescue team and leaving Tag ( Niall
Matter) clinging to life on the mountain.

WEDNESDAY
The Middle The Hecks are looking forward to hitting an all-youcan-eat buffet after church but their family squabbling disrupts the service and the visiting minister (guest star
Keegan-Michael Key) insists they stay behind for some family counselling. Turns out they need quite a bit of it, and it looks as if they won’t make it to the buffet in time.

THURSDAY
The Crazy Ones Mork and Mindy are reunited, as Pam Dawber guest stars as Simon’s ( Robin
Williams) new love interest, Lily. Things go well for a while, but Simon begins to feel disillusioned about love after finding out that Gordon ( Brad Garrett) and his partner have broken up. Magician David Copperfield is also a guest star.
