Vodka plus hunger a bad combination for Kate Moss

- DOUG CAMILLI tellcamilli@gmail.com

In the finest traditions of British investigative journalism, the Sun reveals what led to that vodka-fuelled flip-out by Kate Moss aboard a flight from Turkey to London the other day.

People have been asking what a rich celebrity was doing on an EasyJet flight, and there has been no answer. But the Sun does say Kate was returning from a detox weekend — not the rehab kind but the spa kind, with kale smoothies and saunas and exercise. Then, on the plane, she finds that EasyJet has managed to run out of sandwiches for passengers. Then she spies some crew members eating pasta.

Boom! “It’s (bad word) all right for them to eat pasta when we’re hungry,” she shouted. And more. Some passengers professed to be offended, the paper notes, but others were amused.

It’s gooood to be rich (No. 45,983 in a series): Variety describes the condo Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell just bought, for US$15.5 million, on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan:

It’s a 3,500-square-foot three-floor penthouse with four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms (plus the small bed/ bath suite for a servant). There’s a private-elevator entrance, a living room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Central Park, terrace and library.

Variety notes that Paul also owns residences in Beverly Hills, Tucson, the Hamptons, London, East Sussex, and the Mull of Kintyre. Carey Mulligan has been wearing

baggy red-carpet dresses lately, giving rise to the usual speculation. Now Us Weekly says she and hubby, Marcus Mumford, are indeed expecting their first child. She has been working on Broadway lately, and was a Tony Award runner-up (to Helen Mirren) for her work in the play Skylight.

She’s 30. Today’s conversation-starter:

Alice Cooper told some London conference that “Our generation of bands wrote songs which will appeal to kids aged 16, 30 years from now … The state of rock and roll right now is so limp. There’s not a lot of rock and roll bands out there, so that’s why you see bands like Mötley Crüe still killing it.”
