What’s in a name? Saldana urges folks to chill out

- DOUG CAMILLI tellcamilli@gmail.com

A lot of people freaked out, it seems, about how artist Marco Perego changed his name to Marco Saldana when he married actress Zoe Saldana two years ago. (I told you about his decision the other day.)

Now, the N.Y. Daily News reports, Zoe has taken to Facebook to urge everybody to calm down:

“Fathers, sons, brothers, men everywhere: Your legacy will not perish if you take your partner’s surname, or she keeps hers …

“Why is it so surprising, shocking, eventful that a man would take his wife’s surname? Women have never been asked if it’s OK for them to give up their names — why doesn’t that make the news?”

Their twin sons, born last November, are called Bowie Ezio and Cy Aridio. I suppose their last name must be Saldana, too. Starlet Billie Lourd makes her movie debut this year in the new Star Wars film The Force Awakens.

However, as she explains to Interview magazine, she will not, repeat not, be playing Princess Leia’s daughter. This is kind of too bad, because Lourd is the daughter of Carrie Fisher, who played Leia — and reprises the role in this movie.

Billie’s dad is casting agent Bryan Lourd. He and Carrie split up after he came out as bisexual.

The movie comes out in December. Billie’s 22. Carrie’s 58.

Back in December, the N.Y.

Post reports, actor Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Captain America, Avengers: Age of Ultron, etc.) married Sheletta Chapital, his longtime lady friend and mother of his two children. About 30 people attended the ceremony, but nobody told the public until the N.Y. Post did the other day.

The wedding was in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, where Mackie had been filming a movie called Our Brand Is Crisis, with Sandra Bullock.

He and Sheletta both grew up in New Orleans and have known each other since they were seven.

They’re 36 now. The old switcheroo: You know that female version of Ghostbusters that Sony Pictures is making? With Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Saturday Night Live stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones? Well, can you guess who their office receptionist will be?

Director Paul Feig said via Twitter the other day that himbo Chris Hemsworth has been signed for that role, as a “supporting lead” actor.

The movie will be quite different from the 1984 original and the 1989 sequel, apparently. Feig says he wanted to stay away from them, because they were so good. In Hollywood, that makes sense.
