POLICE ARREST 22-YEAR-OLD, WON’T CONFIRM HIS IDENTITY

A 22-year-old man was arrested by the SQ on Monday in connection with the death of Samantha Higgins, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Christine Coulombe. He is being interviewed by SQ investigators. Higgins, a 22-year-old LaSalle woman, was found dead on Friday in Hinchinbrooke. She went missing near Lise St. and Newman Blvd. in LaSalle early on July 7. The SQ would not confirm the arrested person’s name or if he knew the victim. Daniel Jones, Higgins’s step-father, declined to comment on the identity of the person who was arrested. “I cannot name the person because of the investigation and that’s pretty much where I have to be right now,” he said. The suspect could appear in court tomorrow.
