Woman fined for false tax filings

A Montreal resident who submitted nine false documents for a fictitious business has been convicted of tax-law violations and fined $152,089 in a Laval court. Revenu Québec said Ritha Nakihinga filed the monthly documents with tax authoritie­s in 2010 and 2011 to claim or attempt to claim $95,509 in provincial sales tax and $63,407 in GST reimbursem­ents for an entity called Nakihinga Autobio, which did no commercial activity and collected no taxes. She has 90 days to pay the fine.
