BOND’S REALITY

Spy’s sex life is no fun

- DOUG CAMILLI tellcamilli@gmail.com

Daniel Craig tells Esquire mag

that James Bond’s sex life, properly understood, is no fun:

“He’s very (bad adjective) lonely. There’s a great sadness. He’s (bad verb) these beautiful women but then they leave … It might be a nice fantasy — that’s debatable — but the reality, after a couple of months …”

Craig says his 007 — Spectre, opening in November, will be his fourth Bond film — “is not as sexist and misogynistic” as previous actors’ versions. “The world has changed,” he says, and nowadays producers are trying to “cast great actresses and make the parts (for women) as good as you can.”

Spectre also stars Monica Bellucci, at 50 the oldest “Bond girl” ever, and Lea Seydoux, 30.

Craig is 47.

Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife,

Sophie Hunter, became parents in mid-June, but have waited till now to reveal their son’s name. As the L.A. Times says, “unfortunately, it’s not Cumberbaby.”

Rather, it’s Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch. That middle name is shared by Ben, and Ben’s father Tim.

We don’t know why the name was withheld until now. I like to think the proud parents couldn’t agree, but that’s just me …

Oh, shut up: Pamela Anderson

tells the Sunday Times magazine that her dog killed himself because of her ex-husband Rick Salomon.

Jo-Jo, a Labrador Golden Retriever, went to that big kennel in the sky this year. Pam says “I think he committed suicide because he didn’t like my husband. He just looked at me one day and said … ‘I can’t do this anymore. I’m out’.”

Anderson and Salomon married in 2007, but she had that annulled two months later. They remarried in 2014 but she divorced him in April, citing

“different philosophies.”

Kids! Don’t try this at home:

ETOnline has seen the new edition of Men’s Health mag, in which Colin Farrell reveals how he quit smoking.

“I wrote a breakup letter to the Spirit of Tobacco,” he says. “I got a frying pan and tossed the letter with a load of tobacco, put some paraffin over it, and lit a match that sent a big, wallowing cloud up into the sky.”

He doesn’t say if the Spirit of Insurance paid for the kitchen repairs.

Talking to The Playlist, Andrew

Garfield sounds almost pleased about getting bumped from the Spider-Man movies by teenager Tom Holland.

“The pressure to get it right, to please everyone ... you end up pleasing no one, or everyone just a little bit.”

The drive for a mass audience creates blandness, he suggested: “(Studio bosses are saying) ‘we want 50-year-old white men to love it, gay teenagers to love it, bigot homophobes in Middle America to love it, 11-year-old girls to love it’ … So, that aspect of it was a bummer … especially for the group of us trying to infuse it with soul.”
