BEAT & BETTER AVE CAFÉ CULTUREL

- 41 rue Principale 579-440-8600 facebook.com/Beatetbetterave

One of the newest additions to village life is this adorable little café and terrasse with great prices and delicious food which is open for breakfast, lunch and supper and then doubles as a bar and music venue on weekend evenings. Ludovic Bastien and Eloise Comtois are a young couple from Joliette who moved to Frelighsburg and opened shop this spring, attracted by the beauty of the landscape and the friendliness of the village. They grow all the kale, cucumbers, Swiss chard, beets and squash in their soups, quiches, stews and salads in the garden down the hill from the café. You can sit on the sprawling deck that Ludovic just built and watch Eloise at work in the garden, with Mount Pinnacle in the distance. On Friday and Saturday nights, they host live music shows with local and visiting musicians — everything from Acadian music and rock and jazz to heavy metal. It’s fast becoming a hub for weekend life in the village.
