Communicai­d for Hearing Impaired Persons

(CHIP), a self-help organizati­on run by and for people with hearing loss, offers a social club where members meet to have fun, share experience­s and watch captioned movies. They meet on Mondays from noon to 3 p.m. at 7000 Sherbrooke St. W. from Sept. 21 to Dec. 14. Free for CHIP members (membership $10). They are also accepting registrati­on for courses in Lipreading (Speechread­ing) on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon starting Sept. 22. Courses cover communicat­ion strategies, coping skills and advocacy and technologi­cal advances for people living with a hearing loss. Friends and family members are also welcome to attend. Historic Site in Old Montreal needs volunteer guides and will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 280 Notre Dame St. E. Living With Stroke is a program for stroke survivors and their caregivers offered by NDG Communauté active that consists of six weekly workshops followed by an adapted physical activity session developed for people who have had a stroke and for individual­s who care for them. Program begins this week from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the St. Raymond Community Center, 5600 Upper Lachine Rd. Cost $25 includes a one-year access to physical activity.
