Sony execs tell Craig to ‘shut up’ about Bond

- DOUG CAMILLI tellcamilli@gmail.com

As you can imagine, the suits at Sony Pictures Entertainment weren’t thrilled when Daniel Craig said he’s sick of playing James Bond and would rather slit his wrists than make a fifth 007 film.

The N.Y. Post now says Craig “has been told to shut up by execs at Sony.”

The paper adds some context: Craig’s cranky comment came after a tough shoot for Spectre.

“They had problems with the script,” Nameless Insider says. Then, “Craig was injured on the set and needed knee surgery, and they were still doing reshoots last month.”

The movie opens here on Nov. 6.

A “Hollywood insider” told the paper “Craig is pretentious and thinks he’s better than Bond. … Plus he hasn’t had a big hit movie outside of the franchise, and he blames that on Bond.”

It’s all over for Pippa Middleton, Duchess Kate’s sister, and banker Nico Jackson, after three years as a couple, the Daily Mail reports.

Nico was the dumpee, apparently. There was no third party involved, says the paper.

Is it easier to land a job directing a Hollywood movie if you’re Dustin Hoffman’s son? I’m guessing yes.

Say hello to Jake Hoffman, whose movie Asthma is about to open. It stars Rosanna Arquette, Nick Nolte and Iggy Pop.

Although there’s no cameo, Jake told the N.Y. Post, Dad was pretty helpful. In fact, “Growing up, he taught me so much and as I got older, we give each other feedback. I’m really lucky we’re so close.”

Rushdie is whining that Man Booker Prize judges are unfair to old rich literary stars, the Telegraph reports.

Rushdie, who won creative writing’s most prestigious prize in 1981 for Midnight’s Children, has claimed the judges now favour “new voices and younger writers” and want to “move away from established names.”

This year’s winner will be announced Tuesday.

That thing about Frank Sinatra maybe being the father of Mia Farrow’s son Ronan? No way, a new book asserts.

James Kaplan’s bio Sinatra: The Chairman, coming out late this month, says the paternity claim is ridiculous because Sinatra was medically incapacitated, according to the N.Y. Daily News.

Mia has hinted that Frank is Ronan’s dad, in an apparent effort to hurt Woody Allen.

Frank’s daughter Nancy says he had a vasectomy well before 1987.
