A community centre in Lachine that provides support and activities for seniors is looking for volunteers to help at their 50th anniversar­y celebratio­n on Feb. 13. Volunteers needed to help prepare the food, decorating, setting up starting at 9 a.m. as well as with bartending and serving the meal during the event, and cleaning up after the event. Minimum age 18.

Volunteer West Island is looking for bilingual volunteers to help as backup in our reception area in case one of the regular volunteers cannot come in. This post consists of taking calls, greeting visitors and taking orders over the phone for the Frozen Meals service. Monday to Friday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon or afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. Minimum age 18.

The church bazaar in Ste-Anne-deBellevue needs volunteers to help sort donations. Must be able to lift heavy boxes. The bazaar is held on Tuesdays and volunteers are needed to help a minimum of four hours starting at 9 a.m.

An organizati­on in Lachine that provides hot lunch to schoolchil­dren from low-income families is looking for volunteers to help cook the meals. Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Must fill out a background security check.

who is isolated would benefit from a female volunteer to provide emotional support through regular visits. She lives alone but there is family who provides meals and companions­hip, but she is alone in the afternoons. She is a singer so someone musical would be good. A 65-year-old Pierrefond­s woman would appreciate a female volunteer to provide some social and emotional support. She is experienci­ng depression and feels very isolated. She enjoys needlepoin­t and art.

An elderly Dollard woman who is legally blind and has some mobility and balance issues would appreciate a female volunteer to accompany her on outings.

A 20 year-old autistic man living in Île-Bizard, would like a volunteer to go out for walks and play simple tablet games. The volunteer would have to be French-speaking or bilingual and be available on Saturdays.

A 60-year-old Dollard man with early onset Alzheimer’s would appreciate having a male volunteer advocate to go out for walks with, watch movies, chat and perhaps exercise at the YMCA. He is available on weekdays.

A Kirkland man in his late 30s with an intellectu­al disability who loves to play soccer and basketball would enjoy having someone to play with. He also likes to go out for coffee, shopping, and plays video games.

A 79-year-old Turkish woman in Dollard would greatly benefit from having a female volunteer to visit her and go on outings with. She is currently dealing with memory loss and is still mourning the loss of her husband. This is a lovely lady who is engaging and greatly isolated. Preferably someone who speaks Turkish. An 89-year-old Hungarian-speaking woman in Dorval is looking for a female volunteer advocate to visit her and socialize with her. She is isolated and can only speak Hungarian. This is a lovely lady who took care of her family well and is now living in a residence in complete isolation. An 87-year-old Pointe-Claire man would appreciate having a male volunteer to visit him. He is a former engineer and has a wide variety of interests. This client has been waiting a long time to receive some help. His interest range anywhere from music to mechanics; he also would like some computer help.
