Good Samaritan story ends sadly

-

Re: “Strangers stopped to help” ( Letters to the editor, Feb. 1) We all heard that a young woman was hit by a car on Fleet Rd. in Hampstead and heard about the Good Samaritans who helped her until the ambulance came. Now, we have learned that the woman has since passed away from her injuries.

Her passing touched all of us, especially within the Filipino community, as she was new to Montreal and she had no family here.

I never met her, but my heart goes out to her loved ones, especially her family in the Philippines. It is not easy to work abroad, being so far from your family — and then to pass away like this, it is so tragic. My heart also goes out to the Good Samaritans who helped her that day. Thank you for showing your compassion to someone in need. May she rest in peace. Mario Jacinto Rimbao, Brossard
