Woman crawls on tarmac: report

-

India’s national carrier is denying a report that it left a passenger with a disability to crawl along the tarmac after failing to provide a wheelchair when her plane landed in New Delhi. Anita Ghai, 53, told AFP she was left stranded after arriving in Delhi from the northern Indian city of Dehradun. “We were kept waiting on the tarmac for half an hour before a passenger coach came to pick me up,” the disability rights activist said. “I had to crawl on the tarmac to board the coach.” Air India said there was a delay in bringing the wheelchair to the plane because it was stored in an outlying bay. But Ghai said she reminded cabin staff throughout her journey that she would need a wheelchair on arrival.
