Junio third in World Cup event
Canada’s Gilmore Junio finished third in the first men’s 500- metre race at the speedskating World Cup finals on Friday, behind Russian Ruslan Murashov and Dutchman Ronald Mulder. Mulder only got to start the race after World Cup leader Pavel Kulizhnikov withdrew after testing positive for meldonium. In the women’s 500, Brittany Bowe beat U. S. teammate Heather Richardson-Bergsma into second place with a time of 37.84. Jorien Ter Mors of the Netherlands was third. The final 500 of the World Cup season is Sunday.
