‘Purple Reign’ tartan a Prince of an idea

-

A Scottish music fan is putting his love for his country — and the pop star Prince — into a special tartan tribute. David McGill said his “Purple Reign” tartan would make the singer, who died last month, the “greatest tartan icon ever” and would help promote Scottish history and culture. The Purple Reign tartan, named after the singer’s signature song, is now officially registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans, which regulates the multi-coloured patterns. “When (Prince) passed away, I saw this as a way of paying tribute to him and promoting Scotland at the same time,” the retired architect said.
