Birthday Guy: Actor Kevin McKidd was born in Elgin, Scotland today in 1973. This birthday guy has portrayed Dr. Owen Hunt on “Grey’s Anatomy” since 2008 and he starred as Lucius Vorenus on “Rome” from 2005-2007. On the big screen, McKidd’s film work includes “Home Sweet Hell,” “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” and “Trainspotting” as well as voicing the role of Lord MacGuffin in “Brave.”

Aries (Mar 21-Apr. 19): Be careful that the enthusiasm and zeal with which you approach your latest project does not make you neglect other responsibilities and commitments. Being too informal in a business setting may not go over very well.

Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20): Honesty is the best policy. Being open and sharing your ideas with others may reveal that they share your passions and may even want to help you pursue them. “Do the right thing” if you could easily take advantage of a situation.

Gemini (May 21-June 20): Actions speak louder than words. You’ll get more notice by doing things rather than simply talking about them. It may be difficult to reach a compromise as other parties may demand that you give up far too much to make it worthwhile.

Cancer (June 21-July 22): Routines help keep you centered. Keeping strict regimens or agendas serve as a form of self-discipline and provide an anchor to a structured and orderly environment. Making changes now may point your energies in the wrong direction.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Mistakes and transgressions may be painful memories but the experience still provides a valuable lesson. Be a shrewd negotiator and make sure that everyone is getting their fair share.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Don’t sit on a high horse. Avoid the tendency to talk down to those you may perceive as having a lesser intellect or you may quickly be proven wrong. Talk with people rather than talking at them for a free and easy exchange of ideas.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22.): Take a deep breath. A busy schedule may have you feeling frazzled but it won’t be nearly as difficult if you remain calm. A wellmeaning friend may waste too much of your time with idle chit-chat.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Take nothing for granted. Be sure to double check your work for errors. Make calls to confirm appointments, and make sure that bills and debts have been paid. Keep your cool if a pushy person is pushing all the wrong buttons.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Do what you want to do. Return to interests and pursuits that you enjoy that may have been placed on the back burner due to responsibilities. Your hobbies may not pay the bills but they keep you happy and content.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Those who can’t stand the heat should stay out of the kitchen. While others may panic in the face of adversity, you are able to thrive under pressure. Follow your instincts to assess a situation and reach a quick solution.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): A good bluff can win the hand just as well as four aces. If you act as if you hold the advantage in negotiations, others may believe it and give in. Don’t divulge too much information as you could lose your edge. Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20): Don’t rock the boat. You may perceive a policy as unfair or wrong. Even if you’re right, rules are still rules and you can’t break them without accepting the consequences. A close friend may have the answer to a difficult problem.

If August 9 is your birthday: Focus on being the best you can be during the next four to five weeks. You have the energy and drive to focus on whatever is most important to your life. From mid-September to early October your energies could be drained by someone or something that is not as worthwhile of your attention. Pass up a new romance or business proposition. November may bring added obligations so be organized and respectful of rules and regulations. Your ambition for material success may grow between November and late January. Wait until March, when your judgments and luck is best, to launch new projects or to make a major change.
