Zellweger back after 6 years, with help from her friends
Renée Zellweger has been out
of showbiz for six years, largely because she dislikes the fame game. But now she’s back, with Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third movie in that franchise, due in cinemas this month.
Out making the media rounds plugging the picture, Zellweger tells Red magazine she’s still not mad with enthusiasm about being famous:
“I’m getting better at it. Not good at it. I don’t think I’ll ever be good at being a public person, because there’s nothing natural about it.
“I depend on my little group of girlfriends, all of them different and brilliant. We get together and watch Beyoncé’s Lemonade. … We’ve got Beyoncé, so things aren’t all bad. And you know, Beyoncé doesn’t sit backstage thinking, ‘This is never going to work.’”
Zellweger is 47.
Teen star Chloë Grace Moretz
is dropping out for a while, too, and she told the Hollywood Reporter why. It’s not because she dislikes publicity, she said, although all the attention paid to her dating life “is hard, and the paparazzi are hard.”
But mainly, she just wants to stop churning out movies. After racking up 55 credits by age 19, she has now “pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again. I’m realizing that I can slow down.”
Right now she’s working on developing some TV shows she wants to produce. Her last two movies — for now — are called Brain on Fire (coming this month) and November Criminals, which has no release date yet.
Melissa Etheridge is starting a
marijuana business. The singersongwriter’s products are aimed — officially, anyway — at California medical patients.
“I’m right in the process of branding,” Billboard mag reports her as saying. “There’s a balm that’s so good for muscles and arthritis. I have my own smoke, some edibles” and other products.
She’s 55.
Last week I told you
about Ryan Reynolds, who’s married to Blake Lively, and his strange tweet. (“It’s difficult … but not impossible to make love while singing MMMBop. I’m sorry for this tweet.”)
Now he tells People mag about the start of Blake’s pregnancy: “Yeah, ya know, (I) just played a little Lionel Richie, and the mood hit!”
The baby will be their second. In their wisdom, they chose the name James for their firstborn, a daughter.
Lively is 29. Ryan’s 39. The baby is due late this year, just around the time James turns two.
Yes, that’s Jennifer Lawrence in
those new Dior ads, showing off a coat and some other clothing as well as Diorever and Diorama purses. She’s been modelling for the fashion house since 2012, and currently has a three-year contract with them, worth about US$15 million — and, I’m guessing, a free handbag or two. Nice work if you can get it.
