Condo owners in Dorval seek one-way street

Some condo owners in the expanding Espace MV development in Dorval near Highway 20 say a private road on the development’s property should be a one-way street because it is too narrow to accommodate two-way traffic, especially in winter when snowbanks make it difficult for emergency vehicles to pass.

Three condo owners asked Dorval council to address the situation on Monday.

“Bully drivers speed along the road in whatever direction they want and expect the other drivers to acquiesce,” condo owner Jeannine Aubertin said. “There are two entrances. There should be one way in and one way out.”

Dorval councillor Claude Valiquet was well aware of the file. He had met with the condo associations managed by GES-MAR Property Management to discuss complaints he had received. He said a letter detailing the option of limiting parking to one side, alternating days, was sent to residents in November 2015, but he did not receive a reply.

“It’s up to the residents to go to their (condo association) and demand changes be made. It’s a private road,” Valiquet said.
