Paramedics back strike mandate

Paramedics in Montreal, Quebec City, Laval and eight other Quebec municipalities have voted overwhelmingly to give their union a strike mandate. Support for an unlimited general strike was between 98 per cent and 100 per cent, their union said Sunday. “This strike will be triggered at the appropriate time, depending on the progress of negotiations,” said the Fédération de la santé et des services sociaux, part of the Confédération des syndicats nationaux.
