What do you prefer to write with?

-

I prefer writing with a pen because it makes my work seem more professional, like doctors! Shauné Kirby-Maxwell, Grade 6, École des Cinq-Continents

Usually, I write with my pencil, but at the beginning of the school year, everyone was singing: “I got a pen. I got an apple … apple pen.” So I said to myself: I have got to try this. And wow! You can write so fast, but you can’t erase what you have written. So now I write with my pencil, which is pretty good! Luca Novac, Grade 6, École des Cinq-Continents

I like to write with a pencil because I can erase any mistakes. My second favourite is a keyboard, though it can be hard to find the letters. Rohan Sengupta, Grade 3, École du Petit Collège

I like using a pencil because it is a lot easier to erase. Jade Reid, Grade 3, William Latter School

I prefer a pencil because on a computer you have to look for the ‘erase’ button. A pencil has an eraser on its end. Adwoa Jensvold, Grade 3, William Latter School

I like to use pencils. They are easy to use and they have erasers on the top if you don’t have one. Allegra Sayat, Grade 2, William Latter School

What’s the point, pen or pencil? For sure I love to write with a pen, but my teacher always says to use a pencil. I hate it when she says that because pens makes the paper more colourful than a black and grey pencil. Lorali Beaupré, Grade 6, Harold Sheppard School

I prefer to write my schoolwork on a keyboard because writing with a pen or pencil always tires my arms and makes them sore. My teacher always makes us write with a pencil first and then type, but I think it’s better to type first and then correct mistakes. Maya Gee, Grade 6, Harold Sheppard School

I prefer using a keyboard to write my stories. I use a keyboard to write most of my schoolwork, in Word 2013. I work quicker on a keyboard. Actually, I’m using a keyboard to write this story. Ciaran Hans, Grade 5, Harold Sheppard School

I prefer keyboards because there is less work than a pencil. With a keyboard, you waste ink, and ink costs a lot of money. With a pencil, you need to press hard to write. I do my schoolwork in pencil because you can easily erase your mistakes. Mikael Hamel, Grade 5, Michelangelo International

I write most of my schoolwork in pencil because they oblige us. In case we make mistakes, we can easily erase. With a pen you cannot, unless you use whiteout. Your schoolwork could then be messy. Only in media class do we type on the keyboard. Emma Mantello, Grade 5, Michelangelo International

I write mostly in pencil because if you write in pen and make an error, you cannot erase it. I use pencils to do my homework and to draw. I use a keyboard in media. It’s fun because when I type, I need to find the keys. David Di Girolamo, Grade 4, Michelangelo International

I always write in pencil when writing an exam, but I rather use a keyboard because we don’t have to sharpen it. Whereas, the lead of a pencil wears out all the time. Kyra Albanese, Grade 4, Michelangelo International
