Man charged with arson at radio station

A suspect has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at Haitian community radio station 1410 AM in September. Stéphane Major, 42, was arrested Nov. 8 and appeared in court Nov. 9 after being charged with arson and being in possession of incendiary material. On Sept. 18, he is accused of smashing the station’s glass front door at 3:30 a.m. and throwing a Molotov cocktail inside. The station is on Crémazie Blvd. E., in St-Michel. The CPAM station has been hit by suspicious fires three times in recent years, but police can’t say whether Major is linked to the other two fires.
