Three injured in stabbing at McGill métro

-

Montreal police are investigating a multiple stabbing that took place Friday at the downtown McGill métro station.

Police spokesperson J.P. Brabant said three victims sustained nonlife-threatening injuries during an altercation.

No arrests have been made, but police planned to meet with all three victims.

Police responded to a 911 call around 6:45 p.m. for an “altercation that escalated between a group of people inside the subway station,” Brabant said.

He said police officers didn’t locate any victims, but a perimeter was established inside and outside the subway station to protect the crime scene.

“According to some information obtained by witnesses that were there during the altercation, at least one person was injured by a sharp object,” Brabant said.

“Following some verifications that were made in a nearby hospital, there were two victims, two men, who were located at the hospital.

“The two men are aged in their 20s, according to information obtained by the hospital.”

“Their injuries will not put their lives in danger,” added Brabant.

Police said a third victim, a woman in her 20s, was later located at the Berri-UQAM station.

“That woman was injured by a sharp object in the upper body,” said Brabant, who added “according to information, we don’t fear for her life.”

Brabant said police investigators planned to do an analysis of the scene. There is also video surveillance that will have to be checked out.
