In a buying state of mind? Try this NYC unit

-

A Brooklyn abode whose address Jay Z name-dropped in his 2009 hit Empire State of Mind is now up for sale.

To be clear, the rapper/mogul’s condo at 560 State St., he once called home, is not the one on the market. But within the same complex, the two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom loft duplex unit (Apt. 4C) is listed for a cool US$1.395 million.

Easy.com says the condo is “situated in a historical yet modern residence made up of 39 homes enclosing a vast 5,900-square-foot common courtyard. 560 State St. was built (circa) 1900, renovated in 2005, and mentioned in a Grammy Award-winning song in 2011!”

The rapper (real name Shawn Carter) is also associated with a two-bedroom duplex, but his socalled “stash spot” was Unit 10C. That condo sold for US$930,000 in 2014, $60,000 above list price.

Adds StreetEasy, “The duplex is decked out with ... New York state slate countertops. The main floor is a nice open living room, kitchen and half bath. Upstairs contains two bedrooms and a full bath. The 10-foot ceilings and large windows ... make the place bright and light.”

The only thing that the unit doesn’t contain? Alicia Keys singing this infamous line — “These streets will make you feel brand new/The lights will inspire you/ Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York.” Programmable doorbell possibilities, maybe?
