Three men have been charged in connection with a recent series of break-ins and burglaries in Dorval, Mirabel and Blainville.

The three co-accused were arraigned at the Montreal courthouse on Friday, briefly appearing by video conference from Bordeaux prison, where they’ve been detained since being arrested Wednesday night.

Jean-Guy Dionne, 35, Michel Dionne, 30, and Steve Arsenault, 36, all pleaded not guilty to the charges and are expected to have their bail hearings on Monday after the Crown objected to their release.

According to court documents, Jean-Guy Dionne and Arsenault are accused of breaking into and burglarizing a home on Touzin St. in Dorval on Jan. 17.

As well, the three co-accused are alleged to have stolen from three other homes, one on Jean Rougeau St. in Mirabel and two in Blainville that are a block away from each other, on Jan. 25.

Documents filed at the Montreal courthouse Friday show that Mark Lafleur, son of Montreal Canadiens hockey legend Guy Lafleur, will be charged in connection with the alleged crimes.

Mark Lafleur will face one charge of possessing stolen property. His involvement in the alleged crimes is minimal, according to a source familiar with the situation.

After the thefts in Blainville, the source said, the three co-accused are thought to have made their way to Lafleur’s home, where they were arrested with possession of stolen goods.

Lafleur was released after the arrests and agreed to appear in Montreal court on Feb. 28.

In an interview with the Montreal Gazette earlier this week, Lafleur’s lawyer, Mia Manocchio, played down his involvement.

The defence lawyer for the other three co-accused, Alexandre Goyette, said the same on Friday.

“Mark Lafleur has nothing to do with this,” he said outside the courtroom.

“It’s important that people know that.”
