What’s open and closed over the Easter holiday

Here is a partial list of what is open and closed during the Easter weekend:

Most, if not all, of Canada’s major banks are closed on Friday and open on Monday.

Federal and provincial government offices will be closed on Friday and Monday.

Almost all city offices will be closed on Friday and Monday, including borough offices, Access Montreal offices and points of service.

The municipal courthouse on Gosford St. will be closed on Friday and Monday.

Montreal arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries and cultural venues will operate according to schedules set by boroughs.

Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard will be closed on Friday and Monday.

The city’s écocentres will be open on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but they will be closed on Monday.

Pointe-à-Callière Museum of Archeology and History will be open all weekend, including on Monday.

Most large stores and shopping malls will be closed on Sunday and open on Monday. Some smaller stores may choose to stay open.

Montreal’s public markets will operate on normal hours during the entire holiday weekend. The one exception is that the Atwater, Lachine and Maisonneuv­e markets will close an hour earlier, at 5 p.m., on Monday.

The Bonsecours market, at 350 St-Paul St. E., will be open during the Easter weekend.

STM buses will run on holiday schedules on Friday and Monday. Visit www.stm.info for more detailed informatio­n.

The AMT commuter train line for Deux Montagnes will operate on a Saturday schedule on Good Friday. The Vaudreuil-Hudson line will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, and the StJérôme line will operate on a weekend schedule that day. The Mont-St-Hilaire, Candiac and Mascouche lines will not run on Friday. All AMT commuter lines return to their regular schedules for the rest of the weekend, including a regular weekday schedule on Monday.

Société des alcools du Québec outlets will operate on regular hours on Friday and Saturday. Almost all of its Signature stores will be closed on Sunday and all of the SAQ’s Signature Dépôt stores are also closed on Sunday. All of the Express stores are open on Sunday as are the Classique stores, with a few exceptions. Almost all outlets are open on Monday unless they are inside a commercial centre that happens to be closed.

The Biôdome, Botanical Garden, Insectariu­m and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planeteriu­m will be open according to their regular schedule and are open for Easter Monday.
