Survivor star fired after show

Survivor castaway Jeff Varner, who outed fellow competitor Zeke Smith as transgender on the show, has been fired from his job. Varner was working as a real estate agent in North Carolina. He was previously employed as a news anchor. Varner told Entertainment Tonight he was let go Thursday in “what I felt was an ugly, knee-jerk reaction kind of way.”

He added: “I wasn’t even given the chance to explain or right the wrong.”
