- T’CHA DUNLEVY

Osheaga and ÎleSoniq aren’t the only festivals changing locations this summer. Piknic Électronik will move from its long-standing spot under Alexander Calder’s iconic L’Homme sculpture to a redesigned setup at the greener Plaine des jeux, also on Île Ste. Hélène, between the métro and Jacques Cartier Bridge.

The 15th season of Montreal’s summer-long outdoor Sunday dance party runs from May 21 to Sept. 24.

As usual, Piknic features an impressive mix of international and homegrown electronic music acts.

Out-of-town headliners include: British house mainstay Jesse Rose, dropping in as part of his farewell tour, June 18; Spain’s Chus + Ceballos, known for their remixes of Madonna, Rihanna, JLo and Shakira, July 16; U.S. house music star Seth Troxler, Aug. 27; LebaneseNigerian-British techno DJ Nicole Moudaber, Sept. 4; The Black Madonna, named Mixmag’s DJ of 2016, Sept. 10; and techno hero Josh Wink, Sept. 24.

Bringing the local flavour are: veteran Montreal tech-house DJs Maus and Mightykat, going back to back, May 21; electro poster boy Tiga and up-and-comer Jacques Greene doing the same, May 22; Fred Everything, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts and DJ Mini, June 25; Lost Heroes a.k.a. Christian Pronovost, July 2; Lexis, Seb Fauteux and Ruby Jane, July 30; Vincent Lemieux, Aug. 27; and Misstress Barbara making her annual appearance, Sept. 3.
