Police release photos of suspects in Fairview mall jewelry heist

-

Montreal police have turned to the public for help in tracking down two suspects who brazenly robbed a jewelry counter at The Bay in the Fairview shopping centre on Sunday.

The pair of suspects entered the department store at about 4:15 p.m. and headed straight to the jewelry counter.

One suspect used a hammer to smash display cases — the sound of which sparked a panic when it was mistaken for gunfire — and the pair made off with approximately $25,000 worth of merchandise.

They fled via the centre’s eastern exit to a pedestrian walkway leading to an underpass allowing users to cross Highway 40.

The two suspects were dressed almost identically — black pants, royal blue sweaters, black shoes, black hoods, black hats and mirror-lens sunglasses.

The first suspect is white, 6-foot1 and weighs 170 pounds. He wore a white glove on his right hand and carried the duo’s black loot bag. The second suspect is 5-foot-8, weighs 135 pounds and wore white gloves on both hands.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspects is urged to call Info-Crime at 514-393-1133.
