What’s open and closed in Montreal

Here is a partial list of what’s open and closed on Monday, May 22, for Journée nationale des patriotes, or Victoria Day. Banks will be closed. Federal and provincial government offices will be closed.

There will be no collection or delivery of mail.

Montreal arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries and cultural venues will operate according to schedules set by boroughs. The Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard will be closed.

Most supermarke­t chains will remain open during regular hours.

All Société des alcools du Québec stores will be open unless they are inside a mall that is closed for the holiday. Most large retail stores and malls will be open.

City of Montreal boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups. Informatio­n for garbage and recycling pickups can be found at ville. montreal.qc.ca/collectes.

The city’s ecocentres will be open during normal hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The municipal courthouse on Gosford St., and its service counters in other parts of the city, will be closed.

The Bonsecours Market, at 350 St-Paul St. E., will be open, and the city’s public markets, Jean-Talon, Atwater, Lachine and Maisonneuv­e, will also be open.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum of Archeology will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission will be free.

The Botanical Garden and the Insectariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Biodôme and the Planétariu­m Rio Tinto Alcan will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Société de transport de Montréal buses run on a Sunday or special schedule. Consult stm.info or call 514-AUTOBUS for schedules. Laval and Longueuil public transit run on Saturday schedules.

AMT commuter trains will run a Sunday schedule. The Candiac, Mascouche and Mont Saint-Hilaire lines, which don’t run on weekends, will not run.

Parking meters and parking restrictio­ns are unchanged by the holiday.

The long weekend marks the opening of several sections of Parc Jean-Drapeau, including Piknic Électronik, rides at La Ronde and guided tours of the park.
